Well, it seems that loungewear is here to stay – albeit with an influx of new season styles. And to help you refresh your collection, here we take a look at some of the key fashion trends for 2021.

1. Varsity
The good news? Our new-found love for comfy clothing isn’t about to go anywhere. But it is due for a little varsity-inspired update. In fact, varsity loungewear is set to be one of the biggest 2021 fashion trends for both men and women – with slogan sweatshirts, classic polo tops, vest jumpers and raglan-sleeve t-shirts all winging their way into our casual wardrobes.
It’s a preppy and stylish look, but still so damn comfy - making it the perfect option for future WFH Zoom-calls and tentative gatherings with your friends.
2. Pretty pastels
Sorbet pastel tones are another huge spring-summer fashion trend for 2021.
We’re talking powdery lilac, candy floss pink, mint green – and the key is to combine them into one outfit. In fact, the more you resemble a refreshers ice lolly, the better (n.b. we’re not joking).
To nail the trend, one easy option is to team a pastel slogan t-shirt with a pair of jeans – just make sure they’re slouchy and loose-fitting (skinny jeans are out this season!). Or if you want to fully commit, combine baby pink joggers with a soft orange or blue top to create a truly chic look.
3. Yellow
‘Illuminating Yellow’ is Pantone’s colour of the year for 2021. And, as we head into warmer and sunnier months, you can expect to see a lot more of this cheery hue in the fashion world.
Both light lemon shades and deep ochres are in style. And to embrace this leading 2021 trend, you can either be bold and daring – dressing head-to-toe in yellow – or just add a bright yellow accessory (such as a bag or headscarf) to your outfit.
4. Floral patterns
Ok, so it’s fair to say, florals bloom into fashion pretty much every spring. But this year, it’s more than just a seasonal thing. Flowered patterns are one of the hottest fashion trends for 2021 – and the bigger and brighter, the better. Cute ditsy florals are being replaced with statement botanical prints. And both loungewear for men and women will take a pretty floral twist.
If you prefer to keep things understated, simply team a flowery t-shirt with denim shorts or joggers. Or, if you’d like to earn bonus style points, mix different floral prints and wear them from top to bottom.
5. Baseball caps
The baseball cap is a must-have accessory for 2021 – particularly those with meshed panels.
Not only did it feature in many of this year’s designer collections, lots of celebrities have also recently been seen rocking this retro style of headwear. It’s practical, on-trend – and, of course, it works well with pretty much every loungewear combo. So, to get ahead of the game, be sure to invest in this key accessory in time for the summer.
